The Halifax Area Advertising Authority is charged with promoting tourism offerings within the greater Daytona Beach area, from Ponce Inlet to Ormond By The Sea. HAAA implements its marketing initiatives via the staff of the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, using the Convention Development Tax as its primary source of funding. The Convention Development Tax, a 3% tax levied in the Halifax Taxing District on overnight accommodations, is dedicated solely to the funding of local tourism marketing initiatives. The Tourist Development Tax, an additional 3% "Bed Tax" levied countywide, is used to fund the Ocean Center, the area's multi-purpose convention and entertainment center which recently underwent an exciting $81 million expansion.
