Frequent Q&As

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ABOUT DOING BUSINESS
WITH OPERATORS AND AGENTS

 1. How do I know which tour operators and receptive tour operators are best for me to work with?

A.

Do your research; if possible, visit their offices, use resource material to learn more about their markets (Participate with appropriate organizations, such as; TIA, RSA, ABA, etc.) Attend industry networking events to meet them first hand.

2. Tour operators want to contract my lowest rate, won't this lower my average daily rate? What about my peak periods when I can sell out at much higher public rates?

A.

Tour operators can help you fill rooms practically year round and help you to pay your day-to-day operating expenses. You can limit their availability by controlling your total room inventory available for them to book, in peak season, you can contract with them at a higher rate which is still attractive to you financially, but you should never block them out from promoting and selling your special event dates.

3. How can I enhance my marketing strategy through tour operators?

A.

Co-op advertising opportunities are generally available both in print and e-mail marketing campaigns. You could also partner up with several other like properties and market yourself jointly. Take advantage of marketing offers through the CVB.

4. What can I do to better service the international visitor?

A.

If possible, have qualified trained multilingual staff on property. If this is not possible, have readily available professionally translated material for arriving guests detailing hotel services, restaurants , shopping, attractions, etc.

 5. How can I learn more about working with tour operators and other tourism Marketing opportunities?

A.
